About Dr. Loftin
Michael C. Loftin, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist licensed in Tennessee
since
June 2001.  He is a native of Franklin, Tennessee.  He earned a
doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of Georgia.  Dr.
Loftin completed resident internship training at the New Orleans Veterans
Affairs Medical Center from 1999-2000.  He also was trained during an
externship at the Atlanta V.A. Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia in
1997.  

Dr. Loftin's primary research and clinical specialty during his training
was in the area of health psychology.  He conducted research in the
areas of chronic pain, depression in hepatitis patients, psychopathology
in HIV/AIDS patients, and alcohol-related aggression.  He has published
articles and presented numerous papers focusing on psychological
aspects of acute pain.  

Dr. Loftin has worked extensively with patients ranging in age from 15 to
90.  He has particular interest in working with patients coping with
medical conditions such as infertility, cancer, HIV, diabetes, and
cardiovascular conditions.  Marital therapy and psychological
assessment are also strong interests.

Outside his practice, Dr. Loftin has been teaching psychology classes as
an adjunct faculty member at Belmont University since 2001.  He enjoys
spending time with his family, friends, and dog.  He has been married to his
wife, Robin, for
13 years, and they have one daughter, Libby.
